THEY HAVE BEEN EVACUATED TO RABAUL. CONTACT WITH THE INTERNEES WAS MADE BY ALLIED TROOPS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS FOLLOWING THE SURRENDER OF THE JAPANESE.
