Description
Studio portrait of 3561 Private (Pte) Ernest Albert Miller, 21st Battalion, from Bald Rock via Pyramid, Victoria. A 20 year old farmer prior to enlisting on 27 July 1915, he embarked for overseas service with the 8th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. After disembarking in Egypt, he was taken ill and sent to hospital on 19 February. Pte Miller died of pneumonia on 7 March 1916 and is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Cairo, Egypt.
