Studio portrait of 5300 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Ernest George Le Bon, 22nd Battalion from Croxton, Victoria. A 26 year old labourer before enlisting on 26 January 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 14th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 28 July 1916 aboard HMAT Themistocles. He was wounded in action on 25 February 1917 and evacuated to hospital in Rouen, France where he died of his wounds on 3 March 1917. L Cpl Le Bon is buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.
