Studio portrait of 659 Sergeant (Sgt) Charles Maul Glover, 51st Battalion from Boulder, Western Australia. A 28 year old miner prior to enlisting on 10 September 1914, he embarked for overseas as a Private with F Company, 11th Battalion from Fremantle, Western Australia on 2 November 1914 aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11). After serving with the 11th Battalion at Gallipoli, he returned to Egypt where he was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the 51st Battalion. He then proceeded to France where he was promoted to Sergeant and later killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 3 September 1916. Sgt Glover is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
