An investiture at Government House, which included the presentation of awards to Vietnam Veterans. Identified: left to right: The Governor of South Australia, Major General Sir James William Harrison, KCMG, CB, OBE, CBE; Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO) William Shaw Wickstead, MBE; 33809 Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) James Osmond Furner, MBE; 3526 Captain (Capt) Lewis Atkinson, MBE; 4717740 Corporal (Cpl) David Joseph Mancer, MM. WO Wickstead was awarded the MBE on 1 January 1969, for his service in Vietnam with the Royal Australian Engineers. Lt Col Furner was awarded the MBE on 4 February 1969, for his service in Vietnam as a Major with the GS02 Intelligence with the Australian Task Force. He was later to be awarded the CBE, AO and DSM. Capt Atkinson was awarded MBE on 28 January 1969 for his service from 26 April 1966 to 23 February 1967 with the Australian Army Medical Corps 2nd Field Ambulance in Vietnam. Cpl Mancer was awarded the Military Medal on 29 August 1968 for his service with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR).
