Description
Brigadier General H G Bennett and his staff, conducting battle operations from the Headquarters in a dugout, near Hooge Crater. The men have candles burning on the table. One of the staff is possibly Captain Hutchins. The officer standing is Lieutenant Horace Warner Lynch, 10th Battalion. Lynch embarked as 1970 Private Lynch with the 5th Reinforcements, leaving from Adelaide, SA. In 1916 he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and attached to 1st Division Headquarters. In December 1916 he was promoted to Lieutenant.
