Men of the 2/28th Australian Infantry Battalion acting as gunners, with men of the 104th Royal Horse Artillery, the crew of a captured Italian 149mm field gun, shelter behind a small stone barricade from where the gun is fired by an improvised lanyard. These precautions were necessary because of faulty ammunition and premature explosions.
