Kinsaiyok, Thailand. September 1945. Leading Aircraftman S. O. Simpson, RAAF, and Sergeant J. H. Sherman (Schurman), 2/4 Machine Gun Battalion, ex-prisoner of war (POW) members of the War Graves Commission survey party, viewing a bridge under repair. This group's task was to locate POW cemeteries and grave sites along the Burma-Thailand railway. They also took the opportunity to recover equipment and documents which had been secretly buried, by senior POW officers, in the graves of deceased POWs. Kinsaiyok (Kinsayouk) station was approximatey 172 kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk), or 242 kilometres south of Thanbyuzayat. (Donor A. MacKinnon)
