Description
Kanchanaburi, Thailand. c. September 1945. Officers' huts at the prisoner of war (POW) camp, seen from outside the camp perimeter. By January 1945 all POW officers in Thailand, except some padres and medical officers, were concentrated in this special camp. From June 1945, the Japanese began evacuating these officers to Nakomnayok (Nakom Nayok) north of Bangkok. Kanchanaburi is fifty kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk), or 364 kilometres south of Thanbyuzayat. (Donor A. Mackinnon)
