Description
This small town, on the edge of the high land ten miles from Amiens, was attacked by the Germans on 4 April and 24 April in order to obtain a position dominating the city. The photograph shows the main road astride of which the Germans originally advanced towards Amiens. The fighting of 4 April occurred near the line of the old aeroplane hangars seen in the distance. On 24 April, when the Germans seized the town, they were practically encircled during the night by the counter attack of the 15th and 13th Brigades. The 15th driving past the left of the town, reached the distant house on the left of the road, while the 13th driving past on the right, attained a position hidden by the roof on the right.
