Description
Watching a Vickers Valetta C1 transport aircraft making a delivery run over the landing zone adjacent to their forward company base are 42950 Private (Pte) Robert Stanley (Bob) Swarbrick (left), and Pte Martin A Clark (right), both from Elizabeth, SA, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). They are waiting to collect the supplies, the first of which can be seen exiting the cargo doors of the aircraft. Note the two bamboo radio masts positioned either side of the two men. Pte Swarbrick later served in South Vietnam with 3RAR between 1967 and 1968. Pte Clark previously served with 3RAR in Malaya and Singapore during the Malayan emergency.
