Underwood, Walter (b.1862 - d.1949)
Description
Typed transcripts of seven detailed letters written by 148 Petty Officer 1st Class Walter Underwood, Bandmaster with the Victorian Naval Contingent. Dating from 30 August to 10 December 1900, the letters were written whilst Underwood was serving in Hong Kong and Tientsin during the Boxer Rebellion. The letters were sent to his brother, Fred Underwood, who was sub-editor on the Evening News in Sydney at the time.
