Studio portrait of Australian Prisoner of War (POW) 5397 Private (Pte) Horace Ginbey, 11th Battalion from Kalgoorlie Western Australia, taken at German POW Camp Limburg, Germany. Pte Ginbey enlisted at the age of 23 on 20 January 1916 and embarked for overseas on 17 April 1916 aboard HMAT Aeneas. He was captured at Boursies, France on 14 April 1917 and held as a POW until repatriated to England on 6 December 1918. He arrived back in Australia on 21 June 1919. His pay book was found in the German War Office, Berlin in September 1919. One of a series of over 400 photographs sent by Australian POWs in German camps to Miss M. E. Chomley, Secretary, Prisoners Department, Australian-British Red Cross Society, London. Original album housed in AWM Research Centre at RC00864, Album image number 117.
