The 24th Battalion in the front line at Flinte Farm, in the Ypres sector. The German trenches were about 100 yards away, and Australian snipers from their concealed positions ahead of the line 'kept the enemy's heads down', while the photograph was taken. From right to left: unidentified; unidentified; 1726 Corporal (Cpl) Francis Royce Roddy (facing camera); 2736 Cpl Richard Stanley Palmer (behind Roddy); all other soldiers are unidentified.
