Informal portrait of Lieutenant Jack Henry Weingarth, Australian Flying Corps taken at the NSW State Flying School. A civil engineer and surveyor from Darling Point, NSW prior to enlistment, Lt Weingarth embarked from Melbourne oh HMAT Shropshire on 11 May 1917. Having survived the war Lt Weingarth was killed in a flying accident on 4 February 1919 whilst instructing another pilot and was buried in the Leighterton Church Cemetery, U.K.
