A camp donkey dressed by some members of the 2/7th Battalion, in a respirator, slouch hat, striped pyjama top and two pairs of striped pyjama pants standing outside one of their tents at Beit Jirja Camp. Written on the back of the postcard showing the donkey are the words “How do you think he looks. We dressed him up one day in Palestine. Taken outside of one of our tents, All my love Harry”. Harry is VX1113 Corporal (Cpl) Henry James Bailey Spencer, 2/7th Battalion, of Alphington, Vic.
