Private (Pte) L A Johnson, 4th Field Ambulance, with one of the donkeys used by 202 Pte John Simpson Kirkpatrick (who enlisted as John Simpson) of the 3rd Field Ambulance at Anzac Cove. The photograph was originally stated to show Kirkpatrick, but Pte Johnson later identified it was a photograph of himself taken by Lieutenant Colonel J L Beeston three or four weeks after Kirkpatrick had been killed on 19 May 1915.
