Japanese Katana Sword Blade
Description
Japanese Sword Blade. The blade is unsigned and has a single fuller to each side to within 30 mm of the point. The polisher Kotoken Kajihara describes this blade in 1984 as "having a curvature of 1.2 cm with a Kissaki: Chu-Kissaki. Nakago: Ubu-Nakago. Jihada: Itame-Hada. Hamon: Choji-Midare. Boshi: Suguha, Nakamaru. Horimono: Bo-Hi on both sides of the blade". A modern silver double habaki has been fitted to the blade. It is contained in a plain shirasaya with Japanese characters on the front.
History / Summary
This blade is believed to be late Muromachi period (15th century) and made at the Sukesade School in the Bizen province.
