Collection relating to the service of William H Robinson
Description
Kiriwina, Trobriand Islands, Papua. 11 September 1943. Two Spitfire Mk Vc aircraft of No. 79 Squadron RAAF at "immediate readiness" on the airfield. The nearer aircraft is A58-145, UP-V (RAF No. EE852), with battery cart plugged in for engine starting. Note: This aircraft was subsequently lost during a fighter sweep over the Cape Hoskins area of New Britain on 31 December 1943. Pilot: 400109 Flight Lieutenant L.
