Kiriwina, Trobriand Islands, Papua. 24 November 1943. The casket containing the body of 21265 Corporal (Cpl) C. J. (John) Stratten (the No. 21203 was painted on the cross on John Stratten's grave), Fitter IIA of No. 79 (Spitfire) Squadron RAAF is lowered into the grave in the Armed Forces Cemetery by his Squadron colleagues. Mourners behind the pallbearers include 260779 Squadron Leader M. S. (Max) Bott, Commanding Officer (far left), and Flying Officer J. R. (Jim) Richards (next to him).
