Balikpapan, Borneo. 26 July 1945. Five inch duel purpose guns which were manned by Japanese to cover the beachhead during the landing of the 7th Division. So heavy was the Allied bombardment that the Japanese left their guns in order to seek cover. Note the shells stacked and some standing (right).
