Description

RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV) is attached to the US Army 135th Assault Helicopter Company (AHC), at the Bearcat Base in Bien Hoa Province, South Vietnam. Here, comrades in arms from America and Australia stop to chat in front of their unit emblem with its motto 'Get the bloody job done'. Left to right: R55426 Petty Officer Airman Mechanic Airframes and Engines (POAMAE) William Ernest Barlow, of Beverley Hills, NSW; Sergeant Herschel Sexton, of Florida, USA; R63679 Leading Steward (LSTD) William John (Bill) Nielsen, of Carina Heights, Qld; and Corporal Earnest Faulkner, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. 46 RANHFV personnel serve alongside the Americans in a unique military experiment which has proved to be a resounding success. The sign includes the term EMU, which stands for experimental military unit. The base is about 15 miles north east of Saigon.
