Sweetheart brooch : Sergeant R A Beazley, 5 Light Horse, AIF
Description
Small brooch in the form of an oxidised Rising Sun collar badge. Three suspension loops have been soldered to the lower scroll, from which is suspended a brass heart flankd by the initials L [Light] and H [Horse]. The reverse is fitted with a brooch pin.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of 225 Sergeant Reginald Arthur Beazley, a clerk of South Brisbane who enlisted with 5 Light Horse on 20 October 1914 and served with B Squadron. Beazley embarked for overseas service from Sydney on 21 December 1914 aboard HMAT Persic and returned to Australia on 7 January 1919.
