Description

The Korean War and Australia's role in this United Nations (UN) `police action', as it has often been described, has largely been overshadowed by its proximity to the Second World War, and by the later and deeply divisive conflict in Vietnam. But the war in Korea took its toll of many Australian servicemen and women who went to Korea between 1950 and 1953. This is in large part their story, together with an analysis of the objectives of the war and Australia's role in a conflict which has also been described as the war which might have triggered World War III.
