Fullard, Arthur Frederick (Lieutenant b.1895 - d.1979)
Bound typed transcript of three diaries of Lieutenant Arthur Frederick Fullard (8th Machine Gun Company, 5th Division), covering the period November 1915 to December 1918. They describe his enlistment as a Gunner and journey to Egypt and training there until June 1916, when he crossed to France, entering the front line in the Hazebrouck/Armentieres theatre in July. He participated in the battle of Fromelles on 19 July and was wounded and evacuated. Following a long convalescence in England (including at hospitals in Wimbledon and Harefield) and officer training, he returned to France in April 1918 as an officer, and the diary describes him going into the line near Villers Bretonneux in May and later leading a Company section at Mericourt/Ribemont, Bayonvillers, Proyart, Mont Saint-Quentin, Nauroy and Bellicourt, and the attack on the Hindenburg Line (August-September).
