Description
Papers accumulated by James Farquhar Kalbfell (2/15th Regiment) while a POW on the Burma-Thailand railway, comprising: (i) a report titled 'Report of Conditions - Prisoners of War - Thailand May-Sept 1943', typed on the back of Changi Convict Prison correspondence (1937-38), prepared for the Japanese authorities, detailing Australian POW conditions and offering suggestions for more humane treatment; (ii) carbon copy of a typed transcript of messages of Lieutenant Generals Yamashita and Percivall (Percival) re the fall of Singapore (February 1942); (iii) typed transcript of an article in the 'Sunday Times (Malaya)' re the Malayan campaign (January 1942); (iv) a newspaper cutting titled 'Australian Service Casualties' (no date).
