Description
The Daring class destroyer HMAS Duchess on the starboard quarter of the troop transport HMAS Sydney during a replenishment at sea. Both warships are underway joined by a fueling hose suspended from a crane onboard the troop transport which is pumping fuel to the destroyer. HMAS Duchess was escorting HMAS Sydney carrying soldiers from 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) and their equipment to Vietnam on its first logistical support convoy.
