Description
Darwin, NT. Three soldier farm workers in a tropical setting at an Army farm in the Northern Territory. The palms are Indian oil palms and the other trees are mangoes. Fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and poultry are now provided for troops and hospitals from eight Army farms. Two years ago the Army had a three acre farm. Last season 120000 lbs tomatoes, 40000 lbs cabbages, 3000 lbs beans, 9000 corn, 5400 mangoes, 2000 pineapples, were grown. Army fowls have laid over 26,000 eggs. Far greater yields are expected.
