The Chief of the Australian Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral (Vice Adm) Sir Victor Smith (right), is on a six day visit to the war zone, meeting Australian personnel and visiting Allied bases. Here he talks with men of the 135th Assault Helicopter Company at Bearcat base in Bien Hoa Province, South Vietnam. RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV) is attached to the 135th Assault Helicopter Company. Left to right: R37018 Petty Officer Airman Mechanic Airframes and Engines (POAMAE) Ronald Charles (Ron) Cole, of RANHFV; R37030 Mechanician Airframes and Engines (MECHAE) Ronald Albert Hayes, of RANHFV; two US Army servicemen (Hicks and Cook ?); and Vice Adm Smith.
