WA. Paybook photograph of WX890 Private James Campbell MacLennan, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private MacLennan, aged 39, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 1 June 1941. He was the son of Donald and Jane Ann MacLennan, of Darnaway, Morayshire, Scotland. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row C, Plot 2.
