WA. Paybook photograph of WX317 Private Edward Clarence Budden, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Budden, aged 25, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 26 May 1941. He was the nephew of Mr G. H. Mellowship, of East Fremantle, WA.
