NSW. Paybook photograph of NX13113 Gunner Frank Hughes, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Hughes, aged 31, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of John and Edith Rebecca Hughes and the husband of May Hughes, of Beverly Hills, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row A, Plot 9.
