NSW. Paybook photograph of NX7672 Lance Corporal Alexander Robert Browne, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Lance Corporal Browne, aged 28, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Hubert F. T. Browne and Gertrude Brown and the husband of Marie Browne, of Rockdale, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row A, Plot 13.
