Studio portrait of Major (Maj) Frank Horton Berryman, DSO, 4th Australian Field Artillery Brigade and brigade major of the 7th Infantry Brigade. Maj Berryman was awarded a Distinguished Service Order on 4 September 1918 and was Mentioned in Despatches on 5 March 1918. A career soldier, (later Lieutenant General Sir Frank Berryman, KCVO, CB, CBE, DSO), he served during Second World War as GSO1 of the Sixth Division 1940-1941, Commander, Royal Artillery (CRA), 7th Division 1941, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Land Headquarters 1942-1944, Commander, II and I Corps, during 1944, Chief of Staff Adviser, Land Headquarters 1944-45. He was Director General of the royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Australia in 1954 and was knighted in July 1954. (Donor C. Barnden)
