Holt, Eric Thomas Wallis (Flight Lieutenant, b.1913 - d.1971)
Three items relating to the service of 413384 Flying Officer (later Flight Lieutenant) Eric Thomas Wallis Holt, No. 1 Communication Unit, RAAF, and specifically the tour of New Guinea by Prime Minister (PM) Ben Chifley in January 1946 when Holt piloted the PM's Douglas Dakota aircraft. The items comprise: letter, 5 February 1946, from the PM to FO Holt, with get well wishes while FO Holt was in hospital; draft reply by FO Holt expressing thanks for this and for the PM's support re `the Torokina incident'; transcript (with carbon copy) of an official letter to FO Holt and his crew relaying a letter of thanks from the PM through the Air Member for Personnel; carbon copy of an official report (2 pages) by FO Holt, with a covering memo dated 17 January 1946, re interference with the aircraft while on the Piva North Airstrip, Torokina, Bougainville.
