Reading the Japan News in the rain are, left to right: Private (Pte) Stuart Aplin of Manly, Qld; Pte Les Sinclair of Mosman Park, WA, and Pte E W 'Ted' Girven of Cheshire, UK, who is holding a piece of bread. All are members of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR). 3400379 Pte E W Girven was killed in action (KIA) on 5 September 1952.
