Description
Chatting with paraplegics at their War Veterans' Infirmary at Vung Tau, is the Commanding Officer of the 1st Australian Field Hospital (1AFH), Colonel (Col) D. C. Cook of Castlecrag, NSW (centre). Col Cook had earlier presented the infirmary with medical supplies worth $10,000 which became available due to the closing down of the 1AFH. Most of the supplies which were donated were subjected to expiry dates or changes in temperature and would have been unserviceable if returned to Australia. The donation was one of four to medical centres in Vietnam. The largest gift of the total $100,000 worth of medical supplies was to the Bien Hoa Hospital where the Australian civilian surgical team is based.
