Queensland. October 1969. On patrol is Private Noel Herbert, 22, of Walkerville, SA, during Exercise Straight Kris, held in central Queensland. Private Herbert is a member of 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (8RAR), which underwent the exercise in preparation for its first tour of duty in Vietnam later this year. He is a member of the Support Section of D Company.
