Description
Abbassia, Cairo, Egypt. 1916. Members of 20th Australian Army Supply Corps watch as a local man empties a crate of large bread loaves into the back of an articulated horse drawn wagon at a bread baking factory. The original caption reads `This is where we have to go to get the bread to supply all our units here. Some ten thousand loaves are required. It is situated about five miles from the camp on the Cairo road. I always try to get this job as we can take our time on it & at the same time get a couple of fresh loaves for ourselves.'
