Seaman's white flannel : Wireless Telegraphist 1st Class, R J Reynolds, RAN

Seaman's standard pattern white flannel with square neck edged with blue cotton tape, and short sleeves.

Associated with PA2957 Wireless Telegraphist 1st Class, Ronald James Reynolds, RAN. He enlisted 1942 and was posted to HMAS Melville early in 1943. Reynolds subsequently served in HMAS Tolga (1943-1944) and HMAS Adelaide (1944). In 1944 Reynolds was seconded to the Coastwatchers (later Allied Intelligence Bureau) as crew aboard HDML1321. The motor launch was allocated to Special Operations and conducted insertion, extraction and supply operations for Commando and SRD (Services Reconnaissance Department) intelligence raiding parties. ML1321 also participated in Operation Copper, the ill-fated Z Special raid to Muschu Island off the coast of New Guinea on 11 April 1945.
