Pearl Ridge, Bougainville. 1945-03-09. Members of 4th Australian Field Regiment loading a 25 pounder gun with a smoke shell after propaganda leaflets have been inserted in cardboard containers in the shell containers. It was part of an operation by members of the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) to broadcast surrender messages to the Japanese on Smith's Hill.
