United States : Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal (1918-23)
United States Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal (1918-1923). The obverse has the profile of General John J. Pershing and is surrounded by four five-pointed stars. The words "GENERAL JOHN J. PERSHING" are inscribed to the lower left of the profile. To the right of the profile is an unsheathed sword, point up, within a laurel wreath, and the dates “1918” and “1923” within the wreath. The reverse has an American Bald eagle with wings outspread is displayed on the reverse side perched on the Castle Ehrenbreitstein and encircled by the words "U.S. ARMY OF OCCUPATION OF GERMANY" and three stars at the base. It has a loose ring suspender with a ribbon 1 3/8 inches in width and has seven stripes. The first stripe is 1/16 inch of Ultramarine Blue followed by 1/16 inch of Scarlet and 3/16 inch of White. The middle stripe is 3/4 inch of Black followed by 3/16 inch of White, 1/16 inch of Scarlet and 1/16 inch of Ultramarine Blue.
The Army of Occupation of Germany Medal commemorates honorable military service in the occupation of Germany or Austria-Hungary between 12 November 1918, and 11 July 1923.
