Ap Suoi Nghe, South Vietnam. 1968-04. The new Commanding Officer of the 1st Australian Civil Affairs Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Latchford of Mosman, NSW (right), inspects a charcoal burner's kilns during a visit to the resettlement village of Ap Suoi Nghe, two miles north of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat. Charcoal burning is a booming industry in the new village. Note the piles of wood in the background ready to be placed in the charcoal burner.
