Germany. C 1918. 4811 Private (Pte) William Burns Mayo, B Company, 53rd Battalion, who was captured on 1916-07-19 during the battle of Fromelles. Pte Mayo holding a pet dog and another prisoner of war are probably photographed in a studio possibly in the German prisoner of war camp at Posen. Note the paper pinned to the walls with drawing pins and the elaborate furnishings. (Donor P. Smith)
