'MANLY' flag flown from troopship Queen Mary : Sergeant L A Wood, 2/1 Medium Regiment
Description
Rectangular red cotton flag with 40cm high appliqued white cotton letters spelling 'MANLY' sewn across the mid-section on the obverse side. White cotton tabs have been sewn onto both of the top corners. A double stitched white seam down left side and across the bottom of the obverse side, resulting from two white bands of tape being sewn onto the reverse side of the flag in ornamentation. The inner band of the white tape forms a square within the angle of the corner within which has been hand-embroidered, in green, 'L.W. /....? / A.I.F.'
