Paige, Eric (aka Raphael Finkelstein, b:1898 d:1982)
Copy of handwritten memoir by Eric Paige (NO.EX.VX2555) (formerly known as Raphael Finkelstein) with 2/2 Field Ambulance describing his time spent at the camp at Puckapunyal where he formed a concert party called the "Band Box Revue"; the voyage aboard the "Etterick" for Palestine and duties in charge of the officers' mess. Mr Paige recounts how he joined the 6th Division Concert Party that had been formed for the entertainment of the troops in the Middle East. As the person in charge of costume he gives detailed descriptions of his travels and performances throughout Palestine, Greece, Crete and Egypt and Syria. After leaving Egypt Mr Paige returned to Australia in 1942 to tour around the country and New Guinea as part of the Australian Army Concert Party until he was discharged.
