A crowd of officials in the conference room of the Soviet Embassy in Teheran just before the Sword of Stalingrad was presented to Marshal Josef Stalin (centre, hand raised, in light uniform). British Prime Minister Mr Winston Churchill made the presentation on behalf of King George VI in recognition of the bravery of the Soviet people and soldiers in the prolonged battle for Stalingrad. Churchill is at centre left, in RAF uniform, saluting.
