Description
A handwritten account by Lieutenant Howard Jacups AAMC entitled "Escape from Singapore, Singapore to Sydney, 43 days". The manuscript describes Jacups' escape from Singapore in February 1942 aboard the launch TAI-KOO-NING. Jacup and others of his unit sailed from Singapore to Sumatra, landing at Priggi Rajah from where they sailed inland to Rengat. In Rengat they joined other Australian servicemen who had escaped Singapore and were transported by Dutch authorities overland to Padang. From Padang they were evacuated to Ceylon aboard the S.S. DERWEIRT.
