Description
Informal portrait of 20555 Sapper Eric Keast Burke,'D' Troop, 1st Australian Wireless Signal Squadron, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, in his tent. He is sitting on a wicker seat in a deep dugout with the base of the tent above his head at ground level. Note the nets pulled up to allow maximum ventilation in the summer heat. Burke, a keen photographer, was the editor of the Squadron's unit history, 'With Horse and Morse in Mesopotamia'.
