Informal portrait of three RAAF Squadron Leaders. Once together as pilots in No. 451 (Spitfire) Squadron RAAF in the Middle East, they were all subsequently given command of squadrons themselves. Left to right: 402365 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) E. Ed Kirkham MID; 402356 Sqn Ldr Ray T. Hudson DFC MID, who has just relinquished command No. 450 (Kittyhawk) Squadron RAAF in Italy, and 402781 Sqn Ldr Lance Neville Ahern DSO DFC.
